Mauritius, located in Southern Africa, is officially known as the Republic of Mauritius and it is an island country. The country has diversified its economy and its various economically active industries include textile and apparel industry, tourism and financial services. Manufacturing is an important part of the economy. Some of the products from this sector are clothes, electronic items, books and magazines and plastic products. Information Technology is also a growing sector. Production of sugarcane also continues to contribute towards the economy. Main industries are food processing, textiles, clothing, chemicals, metal products, transport equipment, nonelectrical machinery and tourism. |
